Letter from the Principal and Vice Principal

Dear Sonoma Heights Families,

Welcome back to another exciting new school year at Sonoma Heights Elementary! I hope you all enjoyed a restful, rejuvenating summer and are ready to embark on another year filled with learning, growth, and new opportunities.

This year, we are especially thrilled to announce the launch of our new writing program, Writing by Design. This comprehensive approach will help our students build stronger writing skills, encourage their creativity, and boost their confidence in expressing themselves.

We are also broadening our focus on CTE (Career and Technical Education) experiences for all grade levels. Our students will have opportunities to explore hands-on learning with drones, coding, and for the first time, we’ll participate in the LEGO First Competitions! These activities are designed to foster a love of innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving—skills that will serve our students well in the years ahead.

We’re excited to share that our playground has brand new musical equipment, giving students new ways to express their creativity and enjoy the outdoors. Additionally, each classroom will feature a small hydroponic unit, providing hands-on experiences with plant science and sustainability—another way we are bringing 21st-century skills and environmental awareness into daily learning.

Our dedicated staff has been working hard to prepare engaging lessons and activities, and I am confident that this year will be one of growth, discovery, and success for every student.
